Canada Post and the US Postal Service commissioned Grumman to produce 500 of these light delivery vehicles in 1984. Grumman built their classic aluminum body onto a Volkswagen Rabbit Pick-up truck frame and drive train, including their best diesel engine, the 1.6L. They branded it the 'Kubvan'.
In British Columbia (Victoria) where I reside, the truck is authorizable as a 'Classic Car' because of its very low production number and that it is over 25 years old.
The Kubvan is a noticeable vehicle. Daily conversations happen when I'm out and about with it in the city. It's perfect as a signage vehicle for a business -- guarenteed to draw customer interest.
